All Good Things

Things are just getting better and better over here at Team Hollister. Be on the lookout for big news coming from both Dan and myself. It is interesting how very little in life, especially in business, turns out exactly the way you plan it. You rarely get what you want – but you often get what you need. That is usually a blessing!

One of our clients, Gigg, is undergoing a major branding overhaul. Gigg is a music promotion & social media platform that is going to blow all others out of the water.  Nothing compares to what they are doing. The Hollister Group has the honor to have discovered and partnered with a fantastic, forward-thinking design agency called Riser who is helping us do all the major reconstruction necessary for Gigg’s vastly expanded app and website. I am so completely excited for the new logo that we are near completing. It’s clean and cool and I can’t wait to see it on a cap (which to me is one of the ultimate tests of a strong logo mark)! I don’t want to spoil the big unveiling that is happening later this summer but I will post exciting details as we draw closer.

On my front, there have been big changes. I just finished a six-month stint writing, illustrating, and designing my first picture book, Jillee Bean and the One Good Thing. We self-published so we are now in full promotion/marketing mode. Big thanks go to my co-creator, Jill Nystul, who pens the hugely popular and savvy DIY blog “One Good Thing by Jillee.” It was her character and inspiration that we used to create this colorful, mid-century Golden Book styled children’s book. Thank you also to Dan and our kids for providing so much essential feedback and insight that made the finished product what it is. I love our book because it celebrates the little, kind deeds that children do everyday to make a big difference in this world. You don’t have to be royalty or have super-human powers to change the lives of those around you for good. AND there is so much joy to be had in giving. That’s what we celebrate in Jillee Bean and the One Good Thing. Please check it out at JilleeBean.com and buy a copy or two or three 🙂 They make great gifts! We are so proud of how they turned out (despite the toil and tears and sleepless nights) and I have since vowed to do more storybooks in the near future. (I just recounted, and I have over a couple dozen solid concepts.) In fact, Dan and I are fleshing out the next one, a Christmas adventure story. We had the idea almost a decade ago, so it is high time that made something presentable out of it. I looooove storytelling! In all it forms. And yet, there is just something so satisfying when you can craft and paint your own big, beautiful book that children and families can enjoy over and over again. Picture books really are splendidly timeless.

Thank you to all our partners, friends, and family that have stuck with us through thick and thin. “(2014) IS A PIVOTAL YEAR!”
